Thank you for your interest in the GMS Photography Club!  We are so happy to lead GMS into our seventh year, as we have lots of new things planned for our photographers!

About GMS Photography Club:  Our club is part of a larger non-profit organization called “i.imagine,” which provides photography education after-school programs to students in NKY and Cincinnati.  Shannon Eggleston is the founder of i.imagine and oversees the GMS class.

Class Description: Students will have a blast in this fun and active class while learning three basic principles.  First: the fundamentals of photography.  We pack a lot of science, technology, math, and, of course, art into our instruction, helping the students get familiar with the cameras and start to take good photographs.  Second: the artistry of photography. We discuss how the human eye is naturally drawn to particular artistic elements and help the students develop their own artistic vision.  Third: social issues. Every class will cover a relevant social issue facing teens, exploring how these issues and the emotions/feelings they generate can become stories told through photographs rather than words.

GMS Photography Club is a judgement-free zone.  It’s impossible to feel free to create and express yourself if you feel that others might criticize you.  We are a family of photographers that focus on the beauty in the photos we take and, more importantly, who we are as human beings.

Meeting Date/Location/Time: Students that are brand new to GMS Photography Club will join our Photography Club 101 class, which meets right after school in room 181 (Miss Twaddell's room), from 2:40 - 4:00pm every Tuesday from September until early May.  Students that have participated actively in our club in the past have the opportunity to move up to the "201" class, which meets at the i.imagine Center of Photography, located within walking distance to GMS. â€‹

September 10th and 17th are open for any student to join us without obligation to join. After September 17, students are required to be officially registered.

Do I need to bring my own camera?  If you have a DSLR camera, I highly encourage you to allow your child to use it!  We will cover care and maintenance, and your child will likely be able to teach you how to get the most out of your camera.  If you don’t have a DSLR camera, no worries!  We have camera kits available for your child to borrow, which they’ll get to keep at home and take on trips AS LONG AS THEY'RE ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB. There is no additional cost to borrow.

If you have a camera at home, but not sure if it's a good fit, click here to learn more about GMS Photography Club camera recommendations.

Does my child need previous knowledge/experience with photography? Nope!  We welcome students of all ability levels.

Thank you for sharing your child with us!  We are so excited for another great year of GMS Photography Club!
